The summer is coming to a close on a bright note for Christopher Cross.
The Grammy-winning singer/songwriter will be profiled on CBS News Sunday Morning on August 31st, less than two weeks before his new album Secret Ladder is released.
Its 13 new tracks explore what Christopher Cross calls "grown-up subject matter." As an example, he sites "Simple," which he says "elicits the tuneful sense of love and serenity" that marked the iconic hit "Sailing."
The track "Reverend Blowhard" he says is an "unvarnished commentary on TV evangelists" that also serves as homage to his songwriting heroes Randy Newman and Steely Dan's Donald Fagen and Walter Becker.
Secret Ladder goes on sale September 12th. The day before that release, as the United States marks the 13th anniversary of 9/11, Cross will release an iTunes download "We Will Remember You" to honor men and women who have served our country in the armed forces. The song will be available on September 11th only.
