As we approach the anniversary of the death of Elvis Presley, there are always new books, albums and videos relating to the King of Rock & Roll.
Speaking of books, author Gary Tillery says his book The Seeker King: A Spiritual Biography of Elvis Presley will surprise people. He explains, "Not that he ever got away from traditional Christianity, but [his] was enhanced, he had a bigger vision of it."
He read a thousand books on occult subjects. Presley was into such things as Swami Yogananda's Self-Realization Fellowship. Elvis even had his own mystical experience. And, intrigued by disputed evidence of his mother having partial Jewish ancestry (several generations removed) -- Elvis believed it to be true and was quite proud of it.
Tillery adds, "Elvis felt better about having Jewish blood. He quipped that he was covering all bases." Fans often noticed that he wore both a Crucifix and a Jewish star on his neck chain."
