John Lennon auction brings in almost $3 million.
Recalling a song The Beatles famously covered, "Money"...and lots of it changed hands this week at an auction in New York.
In what Sotheby's calls the largest private collection of John Lennon works to reach the market, 89 works of art and literature brought in a whopping $2.9 million.
The material belonged to British publisher Tom Maschler, who worked with Lennon on his two books, In His Own Write and A Spaniard in the Works. The items that were auctioned largely came from those projects.
