A concert recording of James Taylor in his heyday and some less than stellar mid 60's recording featuring him are both being released in the next couple of weeks.
The gem of the two is Feel the Moonshine: The Classic 1976 Radio Broadcast, which will be released on September 9th. It features a concert from July 25, 1976 at Syria Mosque in Pittsburgh, which was broadcast on a local FM station.
On that tour, Taylor's touring band was augmented by longtime Jackson Browne sideman David Lindley on fiddle and slide guitar, and David Sanborn on saxophone.
The previously released The Letter is being reissued September 2nd, and it's for hardcore JT fans only. It's mostly recordings a young James Taylor made with his mid 60's band The Flying Machine that are barely recognizable as him.
