Ronnie Wood opens up about concert prep

Ronnie Wood recently confirmed The Rolling Stones 'serious approach to touring. Speaking with ‘The Sun’ prior to their opening night in Houston, Wood shared insights into the band's preparation for their Tour '24.

He said, "We really had our noses to the grindstone in L.A. and we rehearsed for five weeks," he said. The band has been getting back into the mode of playing stadiums, always striving to improve and brush up their performances. Wood added, "It is all from the heart, that is where we get everything. But we like to mix up the old and the new, that is what we love to do.”

Wood also spoke about his personal life on the road. He remains clean and sober, stating, “The adrenaline high is stronger than any drug or alcohol. The natural high is the best one you can have, it exceeds drugs or alcohol." Ronnie says he maintains his health with green juices and light workouts with his trainer to keep his circulation going, which he acknowledges is important as one gets older. Despite the constant party atmosphere on the road, Wood enjoys his quiet time and is currently engrossed in the Netflix series, ‘Ripley.’

During their rehearsals, The Rolling Stones were joined by Paul McCartney, who Wood describes as "great and really supportive." McCartney, who plays bass on "Bite My Head Off" from the Stones' latest album, Hackney Diamonds, might reprise his role at one of the shows.

Sir Paul also hosted a going-away party for Wood and his wife Sally in L.A., inviting Neil Young as a surprise guest. Wood expressed his excitement about reuniting with Young at the upcoming New Orleans Jazz Festival, where both The Rolling Stones and Young with Crazy Horse are scheduled to perform.
