Michael Jackson's name taken off MTV Vanguard Award

The MTV Video Music Awards may mothball the annual Vanguard Award, which bears Michael Jackson's name.

The late singer’s already-damaged reputation was further tarnished by the scandalous documentary Leaving Neverland. The HBO program consisted of credible accusations by two victims who said that Michael Jackson groomed and sexually abused them as children. And then coerced them to lie on the witness stand to protect him,

An insider confirmed (quote) “There’s a lot of heated discussion at the network about how to handle the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. There’s talk if they should change the name, or get rid of it altogether.”

In this #MeToo era, MTV has concerns of which artists would accept the honor and even who would be willing to present the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. (New York Post)
