Chicago will release a new Christmas album this fall

Chicago has a new holiday album due out October 4th that's unlike any of the group's previous albums.

Chicago Christmas saw the band rehearse the songs during soundchecks and on days off, then record the tracks after shows in various hotel rooms and on tour buses. The collection features eight holiday originals, two holiday standards (“Here We Come A-Caroling” and “Sleigh Ride") and a cover of Hal David and Burt Bacharach's “What the World Needs Now Is Love,” which founding member Robert Lamm thought had "a timely message for the holidays."

This is the band's fourth holiday album -- the others are 1998's Chicago 25: The Christmas Album, 2003's What's It Gonna Be Santa (which is a reworked version of 25) and 2011's Chicago 33: O Christmas Three.
