The Band will reissue self-titled debut album for 50th anniversary

As expected, a 50th anniversary reissue of The Band's self-titled album is coming out this fall.

The various packages -- due out November 15th -- include a box set with two CDs, a Blu-ray, two LPs and seven-inch single; a two-CD version; two different two-LP versions; and a digital package. The reissues were overseen by Robbie Robertson and include a new stereo mix of the album by Bob Clearmountain.

The CD, digital and box set configurations also include 13 outtakes and The Band's Woodstock performance. The box set Blu-ray includes the album mixed in 5.1 surround sound plus the episode of Classic Albums about the project. Check out an alternate take on "Rag Mama Rag" on YouTube.

The Band, which includes "The Night They Drive Old Dixie Down" and "Up on Cripple Creek," was released on September 22nd, 1969 and peaked at number-nine on the album chart the following year. It's the group's best-selling album.
