Tina Turner musical proud moment for songwriter Holly Knight

Thursday night's opening of Tina: The Tina Turner Musical was a proud time for Holly Knight.

Knight, who has three songs used in the show, says, "I feel like I’ve finally dipped a toe in the Broadway world... At the end, when Adrienne Warren broke into 'The Best' and everybody jumped out of their seats, it was heartwarming to see how much joy the song has brought to so many people -- and they all knew the words."

The native New Yorker -- who has also written for Lou GrammPat BenatarBon Jovi and Aerosmith --adds, "I go through this whenever I go to a concert of an artist I’ve written a hit for... it’s a wonderful feeling. Last night was a triumphant moment for me because songwriters are behind the scenes. The people surrounding me had no clue that one of the people standing next to them singing along was the writer. Hopefully as time goes by I will be sitting in the audience, listening to an entire musical filled with my songs, either a catalog musical (I hate the term jukebox) or an original one with all new songs. That’s [my] goal at least."
