The Beach Boy's Mike Love releases new song

Mike Love of The Beach Boys released a new song today last Friday called "This Too Shall Pass," to help build morale in this difficult time.

Lyrics include "washing hands and wearing a mask, and it's not even Halloween," with the hope "the best is yet to come, so let's get back to having fun, fun, fun in the sun." The song also pays respect to "first responders and the National Guard, doctors and nurses working real hard."

Love sang lead on the song from his home studio, while his backing musicians, including drummer and actor John Stamos, did their parts from their homes as well.

Stamos said, "About three weeks into the pandemic, Mike, his wife Jacquelyne and I discussed out how to contribute to the crisis. I suggested he do a parody of one of his songs like Neil Diamond did with 'Sweet Caroline.' He insisted on doing something original and then he started singing 'This Too Shall Pass.' I thought it was really special. At 79 years old, he could be on a boat counting his royalty checks on the way to Kokomo, but not Mike. He continues to challenge himself and care deeply about the world and the people in it."

All artist and label royalties from "This Too Shall Pass" will benefit Feeding America's COVID-19 Response Fund to help fund food banks across the country.
