John Oates is getting ready to release a new album of his Americana material coming up on September 18th.
The pop legend will backed up by his Good Road Band. Live in Nashville is a blend of original songs and several classics made popular by Mississippi John Hurt, Jimmy Rodgers and Don Gibson.
Oates recently said the album is "a full-circle moment for me, [that] feels like the culmination of the Arkansas project, being able to bring these guys back, and to be able to make this record after touring and playing so many shows together."
The album was recorded last January at the Station Inn.Live in Nashville shows how country, blues and gospel got going in places like Mississippi and New Orleans and then later migrated to cities like Chicago, St. Louis, and New York.
Oates said of the project, it’s "Dixieland, dipped in bluegrass and salted with Delta blues."
