New John Lennon documentary looks at his last weekend

December 8th marks the 40th anniversary of the death of John Lennon.A new British documentary, Lennon’s Last Weekend, will take a closer look at Lennon’s final days in New York.

The film’s director Brian Grant used material from more than three hours of interviews Lennon recorded with BBC Radio in New York one day before he was fatally shot by Mark David Chapman outside of his apartment building.

That conversation focused on his newly released (at that time) Double Fantasy album with Yoko Ono.Lennon also discussed the breakup of The Beatles, some on hometown Liverpool and his relationship with Paul McCartney.He also discussed his relationship with Ronald Reagan, who was just weeks away from becoming President.

The BBC company Britbox has the North American rights to Lennon’s Last Weekend.It is expected to debut in December. (Variety)
