Don McLean is celebrating the 50th anniversary of his iconic hit “American Pie” this year by releasing an updated version of the song along with a video and more on his new YouTube channel.
McLean says this is in response to how the music industry operates these days.He adds, “There are no music stores" these days.McLean is using the cloud to share his new music and keep in touch with his longtime fans.
With live music being on hold due to the pandemic, McLean says, "We're waiting for the drawbridge to come down, so we can cross the bridge. When will it come down? Will it ever come down? We're all waiting for the green light."
Don is also working on a children’s book based on “American Pie,” a documentary and eventually a stage musical.
