A capella group Home Free recently joined Don McLean for his classic "American Pie,” which turns 50 this year.
The group took to social media, posting: The song ”American Pie” is truly a piece of American history. On this day 62 years ago Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and "The Big Bopper" died tragically in a plane crash after a show with Holly's band (which at the time included a young Waylon Jennings) at Surf Ballroom in Iowa.
