John Lennon's classic 'Imagine' opens Olympics

John Lennon's classic "Imagine" was performed during the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics in Tokyo Friday by John LegendKeith Urban, Alejandro SanzAngelique Kidjo and the Suginami Children’s Choir.

Yoko Ono, Lennon's widow, was moved by the honor and she tweeted, "Imagine. John and I were both artists and we were living together, so we inspired each other. The song ‘Imagine’ embodied what we believed together at the time. John and I met -- he comes from the West and I come from the East -- and still we are together.”

Yoko was born in Tokyo in 1933, but her family later moved to San Francisco. Ono returned to Tokyo in 1937, then on to New York in 1940 before moving back to Japan a year later before moving again to Scarsdale, New York, a suburb of New York City, in 1952.
