Bono shows some love to a new electric car

Bono spent some time in Italy last week for the launch of the Fiat 500e RED electric car. The vehicle is the first special-edition model from Fiat and sister companies Jeep and RAM Truck. It’s part of a 3-year, $4 million collaboration that will benefit Bono’s RED Foundation and it’s fight against AIDS and COVID.

This is the first special-edition vehicle from Fiat and sister companies Jeep and RAM Truck as part of a three-year, $4-million dollar deal that will benefit Bono's RED foundation in its fight against AIDS and COVID.

Bono said,

"I love this company. My father drove a Fiat. My first car was a Fiat. I crashed it. I totaled it actually. My next car will be this Fiat. It's not a professional compliment. I love the stories. I love the history of this great company. Yeah, it's very romantic for me this sexy, smart tangle of ideas and innovation that we call the cinquecento. Just saying it gives me a thrill."

Bono also talked about the irony that he would be the one to unveil the new car because he is not a very good driver:

"No one I know will get into a car with me. My wife will not get into a car with me. If her arms were broken she would not let me drive. As rock stars, you know, you're treated like small children. You know, put into the back of limos and taxis and vans and buses. In fact even sometimes when I get home from tour, I've got out of my own house and gone into the back of my own car. So, I have an unusual relationship with cars."
