The Rolling Stones are gonna 'Tattoo You" once again

The Rolling Stones fans get a real treat today with the release of an expanded 40th anniversary edition of their legendary1981 album ‘Tattoo You.’

The 40th anniversary edition has been newly remastered, including the original album along with three bonus discs. It’s also available on a 5-LP set.

The first bonus disc, ‘Lost & Found: Rarities,’ features 9 previously officially unreleased songs, including the first single, “Living in the Heart of Love,” which had actually been bootlegged for years.

The other two bonus discs are ‘Still Life: Wembley Stadium 1982,’ which includes the classics “Under My Thumb,” “Let's Spend the Night Together,” and “Honky Tonk Women.” and more.

Mick Jagger said his approach to compiling the release was the same as when the band originally put it together in 1981:

"We were going on tour and I think the record company said, 'Well, where's your album?' And we said, 'Well, we don't have one.' And they said, 'Why don't you go back and see what you've got. You must have something.' So, we went back into the studio and we looked for tracks. And, you know, we found 'Start Me Up,' which we'd done and things like that that we hadn't really thought we finished but they were finished. And it's the same process I had to go through here. So really, what I did for these extra tracks was just do the same process I did on the original Tattoo You album. It was the exactly the same thing."
