Reviews for the new Beatles documentary “Get Back” have begun pouring in. The documentary premiered on Disney + over the Thanksgiving holiday and some critics think it’s too long.
“Get Back” clocks in at a whopping 468 minutes. Director Peter Jackson, who also directed the lengthy “Lord of the Rings” movie says the story of The Beatles couldn’t be told in less time. Jackson says if he’d cut anything out, it could’ve taken “another 50 years” to uncover.
He said, “I’d like to say that I didn’t really leave out anything that I thought was important.” Adding, “which is why the duration has crept up to what it is today.” He said, “I thought: ‘God, people have got to see this. This is great. They have to see this.’”
