David Lee Roth says he designed art scheme on Eddie's guitar

David Lee Roth was recently questioned about one of his paintings he calls "Big Waves," which resembled Eddie Van Halen's iconic "Frankenstein" guitar. Dave had a simple reply-- he helped design the iconic guitar's art scheme.

Dave said, "Alex Van Halen was there when I walked in with three rolls of tape. I said to Ed, 'an expanding linear pattern.' And within like four minutes I laid it out. Kaboom. So essentially, I say with a great big sense of humor, I invented coffee, they invented a cup. Later they added colors to it gloriously."

The guitar’s different color schemes are red with white and black; yellow with black; and the original white and black.
