Brenda Lee reflects on the success of 'Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree'

Brenda Lee first got festive with "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" more than 60 years ago, and the song still brings people to their feet -- which makes the music icon feel very good.

Brenda recently told the New York Post that she gives most of the credit for the classic to the song’s writer. She said, "It has just been a gift to me, written by a wonderful man named Johnny Marks, who was Jewish and didn’t even believe in Christmas, but the only thing that would come out of him was Christmas songs. He wrote some of the great standards for Christmas, like 'Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer' and 'A Holly Jolly Christmas.'"

Brenda, who is 77, says she still enjoys singing the song decades later. She went on to say, "I’m retired now. But we sing it at Christmas [family gatherings]. People will say, “Come on, sing a little bit of ‘Rockin’.' And I go caroling, believe it or not. I love to carol every year."
