Queen + Adam Lambert celebrate 10 years

Queen have just posted Episode 46 of their ongoing 50-part YouTube series, ‘The Greatest,’ as they continue to celebrate their 50th anniversary.

The latest episode looks back 10 years to the band's very first show with Adam Lambert in front of more than 350,000 people in Kiev, Ukraine, along with a TV audience numbering in the millions.

The show was held on June 30th, 2012, and it came three years after Brian May and Roger Taylor backed Lambert on the 2009 season finale of ‘American Idol.’ Lambert and May commented on their decision to work together in 2012:

Lambert: "It was an instant sense of sort of comfort and ease that we all had with each other. We all sort of got a kick out of each other and felt like the right fit, it felt good.”

May: “With Adam, by the time we got together, we kind of knew, yeah, because we'd seen enough of him and we thought, ‘Yeah, this is going to work.’ You know, Adam comes with a certain amount of pedigree because he's done his solo stuff with a lot of success. So then we sat down together and said, ‘Well, what could we do?’ We could do a little bit of a tour. We could try something here, try something there. And it gradually took shape. And before we knew it, we were operating with Adam.”

Their partnership has lasted for a decade. Queen + Adam Lambert have done 218 shows since in front of more than 3.6 million during that time.
