Aerosmith's Joe Perry working at being healthier

Aerosmith guitar legend Joe Perry says he's working to live a healthier lifestyle after two health scares over the past six years.

Perry collapsed on stage in 2016 during a show with the Hollywood Vampires.

He told Spin, "It woke me up to the fact that I'm not bulletproof. I discovered some physical things that I had to adjust. My mother had cholesterol problems early on. You know, just certain medications I take, and others can't. I mean, it was definitely a scare. But in my heart -- and I'm saying that figuratively [laughs] -- I knew I'll be back on my feet playing."

The second incident occurred in November 2018 after an appearance at Billy Joel's monthly show at Madison Square Garden when he needed to be treated for shortness of breath while backstage. He was taken to a local hospital.

Joe said, "They call it COPD [chronic obstructive pulmonary disease]. It's caused from smoking for years. I quit smoking. I haven't had a drink since that night. I'll be around for a while."

Aerosmith are set to release a new album this month, 1971: The Road Starts Hear, and they'll return to the stage June 17th with the first of three residencies in Las Vegas.
