Van Morrison takes another shot with a new single

Van Morrison has just released another single from upcoming album, What’s It Gonna Take?

The song "Dangerous" takes aim at Northern Ireland Minister of Health Robin Swann, who filed a defamation lawsuit against Van last fall.

In the song, Morrison sings, “Somebody said I was dangerous/ I said something bad, it must have been good.” The song’s refrain apparently refers to Swann’s 2020 op-ed in Rolling Stone where he called Morrison “dangerous” in reference to his efforts to perform live music during the early months of the 2020 covid lockdown.

In the op-ed, Swann wrote, “It goes further than disappointment. Some of what is he saying is actually dangerous. It could encourage people to not to take coronavirus seriously. If you see it all as a big conspiracy, then you are less likely to follow the vital public health advice that keeps you and others safe.”

After a show was canceled at the last minute last summer, took the stage to tell his audience that “Robin Swann is very dangerous.” Soon after, Swann sued Morrison for libel.

"Dangerous" is the third single from Van’s album What’s It Gonna Take? The other two singles were "Pretending" and "Nervous Breakdown." The album will be officially released on May 20th.
