Thanks to the series “Stranger Things” Kate Bush’s 1985 hit “Running Up That Hill (Deal With God)” has made it to the top of the UK singles chart this week—marking a new record.
The song took 37 years to get to #1 and that breaks the record for the longest trip to #1 previously held by Wham’s hit “Last Christmas” in the U.K. That song went to #1 in 2021, 36 years after it was first released. The song also holds the record for the longest gap between #1 hits, 44 years. Bush last hit #1 in the U.K. with “Wuthering Heights.” Kate is 63 years and 11 months old.
She just surpassed Cher as the oldest female artist to top the U.K. singles chart.Cher accomplished that in 1998 with “Believe” when she was 52.
Kate’s “Running Up That Hill (Deal With God)” has also charted in the U.S.
