Madonna has gone on recording saying she will not join the many classic acts who have sold their song publishing catalogs the past several years.
The pop diva recently told Variety that despite the fact that her longtime manager Guy Oseary has been approached several times with offers to buy the extensive catalog, she will not sell. Madonna simply explained, “Because they’re my songs. Ownership is everything, isn’t it?”
Madonna did strike up a deal with Warner Brothers last year to have her entire recorded music catalog brought back to the label. On that big deal, she said, "I’m just looking for interesting, fun ways to rerelease my catalog and introduce my music to a new generation."
No one can ever say that Madonna doesn’t do her own thing. She seems determined to stay in the driver’s seat with her musical legacy.
