Bono pushing his upcoming memoir

Bono has just posted another narrated animated video to promote next month's publication of his memoir, ‘Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story.’

Bono talked about forming the band that would go on to become U2 after seeing a flyer on his high school bulletin board in 1976 that read: “Drummer seeks musicians for band.”

He then went on to describe the band's first rehearsal at drummer Larry Mullen Jr.'s house. He said, “We’re all packed in the oven that is Larry’s kitchen. How do we fit all the drums, amps and apprentice rock stars into such a small room?”

Mullen and Dave Evans (The Edge) could play their instruments, but Bono wasn't much of a singer and Adam Clayton didn't know how to play the bass. Bono said, “Adam was the spirit of rock and roll, a sort of posh Sid Vicious. If Larry gave life to the band, it was Adam who believed this band could give us a life.”

Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story’ will be published on November 1st.
