Billy Gibbons steps outside ZZ Top for new project

Billy Gibbons has just completed a project outside of ZZ Top. Gibbons teamed with Morris Day of the 80’s group The Time for a new song, "Too Much Girl 4 Me."

The project came together when Day's manager recently ran into Gibbons at the Beverly Hills Hotel and Billy suggested a collaboration with Morris Day. Billy later ran into Day at a nearby liquor store where Day said, "we made it official that we would work together" and "a few days later, we were in the recording studio."

Gibbons plays guitar on the track, and he also sings. "Too Much Girl 4 Me" will be on what Morris Day says is his final album, Last Call, which will be released on November 11th.

Billy Gibbons once commented on the furry guitars the band played in the video for their classic “Legs.”Billy said, “The furry guitar was definitely an inspiration from Bo Diddley. He had chopped and channeled his own versions of the electric Spanish six-string for years and years, and one made an appearance covered in kind of like a shag carpet. Having made friends with Mr. Bo Diddley, ‘Well,’ he said, ‘go get yourself a sheepskin.’ He said, ‘It’ll probably work for ya.’”
