Wham! have just hit a big milestone 37 years after George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley went their separate ways.
The 1984 hit “Careless Whisper” has become the eighth song from the '80s to top a billion views on YouTube. The other songs do accomplish that:
- “Never Gonna Give You Up” - Rick Astley
- "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” - Cyndi Lauper
- “Sweet Child O’ Mine” - Guns n’ Roses
- "Billie Jean" - Michael Jackson
- “Every Breath You Take” - The Police
- "The Final Countdown” - Europe
- "Take on Me" - A-ha
"Careless Whisper" was marketed as a solo George Michael track everywhere except the U.S., where it was released under the banner Wham! featuring George Michael. The song was yploaded to YouTube in 2009, and Variety reported that "Careless Whisper" has been viewed on average 400,000 times a day this year.
