Aerosmith hit the top 10 in April of 1988 with their classic “Angel.” The song was featured on the iconic band’s comeback album ‘Permanent Vacation.’
“Angel” became Aerosmith’s highest charting single since the 1970’s when it hit the top 10 in the spring of 1988. Steven Tyler wrote the song as a power ballad with songwriter Desmond Child. Aerosmith got tongue-in-cheek with the album title for ‘Permanent Vacation.’ The guys had more or less gone their separate ways after their 70’s heyday, only to reunite and make a strong comeback when they teamed up with Run D.M.C. in 1986 for a remake of their classic “Walk This Way.”
Steven Tyler once talked about how he was influenced by the late John Lennon. He said, "It was more than an influence for me. He got under my skin with his lyrics, the music, his sense of humor. You know stuff like, 'And here's another clue for you all. The walrus was Paul.' Come on with that. His style of dress, his hair, the way he wore his glasses. I mean he made it cool to wear round glasses and not be a dork. And what about his concepts of peace? He didn't just influence my career, he influenced my life."
