Much like The Rolling Stones are doing on their next album with the late Charlie Watts, the album ZZ Top are working on will also feature bassist Dusty Hill, who passed away in 2021.
Billy Gibbons told Classic Rock magazine, "We are currently reviewing the tracks that deserve completion. Dusty is on some of those, so is [his replacement] Elwood [Francis]. What's fascinating is that we have three or four tracks with them both. They're trading off. The only tell-tale difference is that Dusty, playing with his fingers, sounds a little warmer...”
He added, "Dusty played with his fingers, Elwood uses a pick. It's a little sharper. He brings a little more finesse..."
No word on when the album will be released.
