Times have changed for Def Leppard and Motley Crue

The Def Leppard and Motley Crue ‘Stadium Tour’ is much different now than when the two bands played together 40 years ago. The drugs are gone, and potted plants are in their place.

Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott told People that if you fall asleep around Motley drummer Tommy Lee and guitarist John 5 they’ll put “plant pots” on your head and “take pictures.” Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen added, “So God help you—just don’t shut your eyes. At least Tommy’s smuggling plants now instead of cocaine. Bonsai trees, that’s his latest obsession...”

He added, “It’s been really nice being semi-grown up and actually appreciating all that we do.” Elliott agreed, saying, “I think the wonderment of what you do is part of what keeps your mind young. The childhood dreams, when they go, it starts to fall off.”

They added that it was the school of hard knocks that got them to where they are today.

Joe Elliott said, “History tells you, with a car crash, death, cancer, whatever the hell we’ve survived, we’ve always had this underpinned strength of, it’s the music that kept us all together. We’ll survive anything that gets thrown at us.”
