Styx are busy working on a new album. In a recent TikTok post, singer and guitarist Tommy Shaw said, “We’re just waiting for the time to get in the studio and start recording. We’ve got about half a record written.”
Talking about the songwriting process, Shaw said, “I like the songs that just happened… I like it when we sit down and the song just comes to you.”
He also said, "You don't necessarily write the whole album from scratch. So, there aren't really any rules. But we always keep gathering little bits and pieces -- little song buds or nuggets or acorns or whatever you want to call them."
Styx have released two albums since 2017 — most recently Crash of the Crown in 2021.
