Phil Collins' classic 'In the Air Tonight' still rockin' with 2 new covers

Phil Collins' classic song "In the Air Tonight" has been given a new life this month, as two different artists have covered it in their own unique ways.

The first cover is by Chris Stapleton, Snoop Dogg and Cindy Blackman Santana, who is the wife of Carlos Santana and a renowned drummer. They have teamed up to create a version of "In the Air Tonight" that serves as the opening theme for ESPN's Monday Night Football this season. The cover features Stapleton's soulful vocals, Snoop Dogg's rap verses and Blackman Santana's drum solo, which pays homage to Collins' iconic drum fill. The cover was produced by DJ Khaled and premiered on September 13th during the game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Las Vegas Raiders.

The second cover is by Kane Brown, who is a country singer and a fan of Collins. He has sampled "In the Air Tonight" in his new song, "I Can Feel It", which is a lyric from Collins' original song. Brown says he wanted to incorporate Collins' song into his own because he loves the melody and the vibe of it. He says he reached out to Collins and asked for his permission, which he gladly gave. Collins is also credited as a co-writer on Brown's song.

"In the Air Tonight" was released in 1981 as Collins' debut solo single. It became a huge hit, reaching number one in several countries and number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song is known for its dark and atmospheric sound, its mysterious lyrics and its dramatic drum break. The song has been covered by many artists over the years, such as Nonpoint, Kelly Clarkson, Lil Kim and Eminem.
