Former Journey frontman Steve Perry has remixed another classic song from his former band for the hit Netflix series ‘Stranger Things.’ After releasing a remix of "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" in July of 2022, Perry has now given a new spin to "Only the Young", a song that originally appeared on the soundtrack of the 1985 film “Vision Quest.”
Perry collaborated with producers Bryce Miller and Troy MacCubbin for both remixes, which he said he loved as much as the original versions. He also expressed his admiration for Stranger Things, saying that he was a huge fan of the show and that having his music on the soundtrack made him very happy.
The remix of "Only the Young" is streaming now on various platforms and is also available on a seven-inch bonus disk inside the newly remastered 40th anniversary edition of Journey's 1983 album Frontiers, which was released on October 27th, 2023.
This is Perry's second involvement with Journey music since Live in Houston 1981: The Escape Tour in 2005, when he left the band due to health issues. He has since released two solo albums, Traces in 2018 and Traces (Alternative Versions & Sketches) in 2020.
