David Lee Roth remixes 'Just Like Paradise'

David Lee Roth has released a remix of his 1988 song, "Just Like Paradise". The song, which was the lead single from his second solo album, ‘Skyscraper,’ is one of Roth's most successful and popular songs, reaching number six on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The remix, which Roth posted on his YouTube channel, features a new arrangement and production, with a more modern and upbeat sound. Roth also added some new vocals and harmonies, giving the song a fresh twist. The remix is part of Roth's ongoing project of revisiting and updating some of his classic songs, such as "California Girls", "Yankee Rose", and "Goin' Crazy".

"Just Like Paradise" was co-written by Roth and the late Brett Tuggle, who also played keyboards on the song. Tuggle, who passed away in 2018, was a longtime collaborator and friend of Roth, as well as a member of his touring band. Roth paid tribute to Tuggle in the description of the remix video, saying, "Brett Tuggle was my musical director for over 25 years. He co-wrote this song with me and played keyboards on the original recording. This remix is dedicated to his memory."

The song also features some of the best musicians in the rock scene, such as Steve Vai on guitar, Billy Sheehan on bass, and Gregg Bissonette on drums. Vai, Sheehan, and Bissonette were part of Roth's solo band in the late 80s, and they contributed to the success of Skyscraper, which sold over two million copies in the US and spawned three hit singles.

Roth, who is 68 years old, is still active and passionate about music. He recently announced that he will retire from performing live after his final shows in Las Vegas in January 2024. He said he wants to focus on other projects and interests, such as art, writing, and podcasting. He also said he is grateful for his fans and his career, and that he wants to go out on a high note.

He said, "I've had a wonderful life. I've been blessed with the opportunity to do what I love and share it with millions of people. I've had some amazing experiences and met some incredible people along the way. I've also had some challenges and hardships, but I've learned from them and grown from them. I've always tried to be true to myself and my vision, and to have fun and make people happy. And I think this remix is a reflection of that. It's a celebration of a song that means a lot to me and to many others. It's just like paradise."
