Cher makes music chart history again

Cher has returned to the ‘Billboard Pop Airplay’ chart for the first time in 21 years with her festive single "DJ Play a Christmas Song." The song, which features rapper Lil Nas X, debuted at number 40 on the chart, which tracks the most-played songs on over 150 pop radio stations. The last time Cher appeared on the chart was in March 2002, with "Song for the Lonely."

But that's not the only achievement for Cher and her Christmas song. The song also reached number-one on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart, making it her first song to top that chart since 1989's "If I Could Turn Back Time." Moreover, the song also topped Billboard's Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales and Holiday Digital Song Sales charts, giving Cher a number-one on a Billboard chart in every decade since the 1960s. This is a remarkable feat that only a few artists, including Paul McCartney, have accomplished.

Cher's "DJ Play a Christmas Song" is a catchy and upbeat tune that urges the DJ to play a Christmas song to get everyone in the mood for the holidays. The song also features a rap verse from Lil Nas X, who collaborated with Cher after expressing his admiration for her on social media. The song is part of Cher's first Christmas album, titled "Cher Christmas," which was released in November and features 12 holiday classics and originals.

Cher's fans have been celebrating her success and praising her longevity and versatility as an artist. Cher has also thanked her fans and collaborators for their support and love. She tweeted, "I'm so happy and grateful for this amazing gift. Thank you to my fans, Lil Nas X, and everyone who made this possible. Merry Christmas!"
