Michael Anthony reflects

After two decades apart, former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony shared details about his experience seeing Wolfgang Van Halen perform last December in Las Vegas.

Anthony reminisced about the days when a young Wolfgang would be a playful presence during Van Halen's studio sessions at 5150. Despite the years that have passed, Anthony sees the unmistakable talent of Eddie Van Halen in Wolfgang's musicianship. "That guy's an incredible musician," Anthony said, acknowledging the prodigious talent that Wolfgang has inherited from his father.

Anthony and Wolfgang's mother, actress Valerie Bertinelli, also shared a poignant moment backstage. Tears and laughter filled the room as they reminisced and celebrated the legacy they shared.

Wolfgang's step into his father's shoes as the bassist for Van Halen in 2006 was a significant moment for the band. Despite the change, there was no bitterness. Eddie Van Halen's wish to play alongside his son was a dream fulfilled, and Anthony's continued collaboration with Sammy Hagar remained respected.
