The 40th anniversary of Prince's seminal film "Purple Rain" will be commemorated with a special release on 4K UHD Blu-Ray and digital platforms on June 25th.
Fans will be treated to a load of extras, including commentary by director Albert Magnoli, producer Robert Cavallo, and cinematographer Donald E. Thorin. The package also includes a mini documentary titled "First Avenue: The Road to Pop Royalty," which at the the iconic venue's pivotal role in the birth of a pop legend.
It also features the music videos that became the visual extensions of the album's hits, including "Let’s Go Crazy," "Take Me with U," "When Doves Cry," "I Would Die 4 U/Baby I’m a Star," and the anthemic title track "Purple Rain." The collection also includes Time's funky classics "Jungle Love" and "The Bird” and much more.
Released in theaters on July 27th, 1984, "Purple Rain" became a cultural phenomenon that solidified Prince's status as a music icon.
