Sir Elton John has unearthed a rare gem from his extensive archives—a longform music video titled 'Visions'. Originally released on VHS back in 1982, this collection was a visual accompaniment to all 10 tracks from his 1981 studio album, 'The Fox'. At a time when the music video medium was just beginning to flourish (the same year MTV launched), 'Visions' offered fans a deeper, more immersive connection to the music of one of the biggest stars of all time.
Conceived by Keith Williams and brought to life under the direction of Russell Mulcahy, 'Visions' was more than just a series of music videos—it was a pioneering effort that helped define the visual language of music in the early '80s. Each video in the series encapsulates the essence of the song, translating Elton's lyrical storytelling into a series of visual narratives. Williams and Mulcahy were creative powerhouses of that era.
Decades later, the complete playlist of ‘Visions’ is now available on YouTube.
