Brenda Lee picks up big honors this week

Brenda Lee's halls have been decked with a slew of honors recognizing her enduring holiday classic, "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree." As the singer approaches her 80th birthday on Wednesday, she has much to celebrate. Last week, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and Nashville State Representative Jason Powell issued a proclamation naming the 1958 classic the state's official holiday song, a fitting tribute to a song that has brought joy to so many fans during the holidays over the years.

Adding to the festivities, the RIAA presented Brenda with a plaque certifying the song seven-times platinum, making it the second highest certified Christmas title—song or album—in the organization's history. This major achievement underscores the timeless appeal of "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree," which continues to resonate with listeners of all ages.
