George Harrison’s posthumous induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 became a legendary moment when Prince stole the show with his solo on the Harrison classic “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.” That moment is still an all-time live highlight from the Rock Hall.

Prince also covered “Come Together” and “The Long and Winding Road” which Paul McCartney only recently realized. McCartney told BBC Radio 2 that he’d heard a rehearsal tape of Prince’s version and loved the “rock” sound and guitar work. Paul said he’s toying with the idea of doing a project with it—which would amount to a duet with the late Prince if it happened.

McCartney was never overly fond of the original release of “The Long and Winding Road.” The Beatles version on the ‘Let It Be’ album was layered with orchestration by Phil Spector. The stripped-down version finally appeared in 2003 on the ‘Let It Be…Naked” album. Could there be a new version with Paul McCartney and Prince? We’ll keep you updated with the latest.
