Bon Jovi: Slippery When Wet #1 this week in 1987

BON JOVI:  Slippery When Wet  was the #1 album this week in 1987

Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet was the number-one album this week in 1987. The New Jersey band's most successful release went on to sell more than 12 million copies.

  • It was cut at producer Bruce Fairbairn's home studio in Vancouver, British Columbia (Canada).
  • The album spun off the singles "You Give Love a Bad Name," "Livin' on a Prayer" and "Wanted Dead or Alive."
  • Songwriter Desmond Child co-wrote four of the songs, including "You Give Love a Bad Name," with Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora.
  • The title was inspired by a pole dancer the band saw perform at a Vancouver strip club. Part of her routine involved soaping herself up in a shower.

Bon Jovi will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this spring. While keyboardist David Bryan and drummer Tico Torres remain in the current lineup, Richie Sambora left in 2013, while bassist Alec John Such dropped out in 1994.

We're excited to welcome Bon Jovi to American Airlines Center in Dallas on March 26th.  You could win tickets at the next Big Patio Party this Thursday evening (5pm-7pm).  Click here for more concert info and register to win a "last chance" pair of tickets  (Tickets courtesy of Live Nation.).
