Ex Foo Fighters Drummer Goes For Nate Mendel After Slamming Dave Grohl

Earlier this week, ex Foo Fighters drummer and current Sunny Day Real Estate drummer William Goldsmith has some words for his old band mate, Dave Grohl.

In a recent Facebook post, the percussionist blamed Grohl for blocking the release of the seminal emo band's fifth album. "Recently by way of objective ears I have been reminded of the fact that the greatest Sunny Day Real Estate record ever made remains silenced, abandoned and buried within the murkiest depths of David Grohls sock drawer," he wrote, later clarifying what he thinks to be Grohl's role in burying the album.

Goldsmith's former band mate and current FF bassist Nate Mendel gave a short, but to the point, statement — “There is no truth to this story.” Those words did not sit well with the drummer, which prompted him to turn his sights on Mendel.

“I’m hearing all these comments Nate Mendel is making saying ‘Categorically there are no songs’ regarding SDRE LP5. Categorically means in a way that is unambiguously explicit and direct," he explained in another Facebook post. "Anything that is swept under the rug and never completed doesn’t have the slightest chance of being unambiguously explicit and direct. But the fact of the matter is I listened to the seven tracks that should have been that record 2 days ago.”

Oof. Maybe a phone call is in order, boys?
