Jerry Lee Lewis returns to the studio

Jerry Lee Lewis has started making music again. The 84-year-old rock ‘n roll legend went back to the studio last month for the first time since suffering a stroke back in February of 2019, according to Rolling Stone.

Lewis planned to work on gospel classics from his childhood in Ferriday, Louisiana. The stroke left Lewis worried he’d never be able to play piano again, but to his surprise his right hand started moving as he put them on the keys.

“I couldn’t believe it, I couldn’t believe it,” Lewis told “Rolling Stone.” “I never experienced anything like that. There I was playing piano with my right hand. I thought I would never play again.”

Lewis worked his tracks alongside guitarists Kenny Lovelace and James Burton, and Lee AnnWomack and gospel legends the McCrary Sisters sang backup vocals. No word on when it will be released.

·Lewis admitted the last year was pretty hard, saying, “I’ve never experienced anything like it. It was very challenging, and it was a very emotional experience.” His wife Judith adds, “In reality, his health is better now than it’s been in the past five or six years.”
