CYNDI LAUPER: Scolds Madonna over her speech
Cyndi Lauper called out Madonna over that controversial speech at the Women's March last weekend -- saying that the Material Mom didn't express herself very well.
In an interview on Watch What Happens Live Wednesday, Lauper mentioned Madonna's comments about "blowing up the White House." She said, "I don't think it served our purpose.. Anger is not better than clarity and humanity. That is what opens people's minds."
Lauper did give a thumbs-up to another March speaker, saying, "When you want to change people's minds, you have to share your real story like Scarlett Johansson. She shared her story. It was clear. It was eloquent. Yelling doesn't. It just jacks people up." (New York)
THE ALLMAN BROTHERS: Butch Trucks' death is reportedly a suicide
England's Daily Mail is reporting that Allman Brothers Band drummer Butch Trucks killed himself Tuesday night -- in front of his wife.
The paper obtained the police report in which an unidentified woman, described as "hysterical" and believed to be Trucks' wife Melinda, dialed 911 at 6:02 pm ET and said her "husband just shot himself" in the head with a pistol. He was alive when police arrived but died shortly after.
Palm Beach County Court records indicate that Trucks had financial problems -- the condo where they lived was in foreclosure. He was also under an IRS lien seeking to recover more than $500,000 in taxes owed for 2013 and 2014.
Trucks also owned a home in France.
