BIG Music News: Blondie, Eddie Van Halen

BLONDIE:  Summer tour announced, including a stop in  Dallas

Blondie and Garbage are teaming up for a summer tour that will be heavy on female empowerment -- and classic songs.

The bands are set to join forces for the Rage and Rapture tour, which kicks off in Saratoga, California on July 5th, and winds down in Dallas on August 12th.

Both acts have something new to promote on the trip: Blondie will drop their 11th studio album, Pollinator, on May 5th, and Garbage will put out an autobiographical coffee table book, This Is The Noise That Keeps Me Awake, later in the summer.

EDDIE VAN HALEN:  Grants one special wish

Eddie Van Halen recently helped a dying man check off an item on his bucket list.

Michael Brewer of North Carolina has terminal cancer, and when he learned he wasn't long for this world, he put together a bucket list, which included flying a helicopter, learning to play guitar and meeting Eddie.

On Monday, Eddie made one of those wishes come true when he FaceTimed with Michael.

Michael’s wife Julie says, "Eddie and his wife Janie were simply amazing! Felt like we were sitting and chatting with a close friend!... Eddie still has the best smile.”

Michael, who also checked off the helicopter ride from his list, has gone public with his story because he wants to let people know important it is to go for a simple 45-second prostate examination.

GRAMMY AWARDS:  Telecast will feature tributes to Prince and George Michael

Special tributes to Prince and George Michael will highlight Sunday night's Grammy Awards.

This morning's (Wednesday) announcement didn't offer any details regarding performers or song selection. Recording Academy CEO Neil Portnow says, "While each possessed a distinct style and sound, they were both adored by audiences worldwide. The passings of two such creative innovators were a huge loss for the creative community. The Recording Academy is humbled to pay homage to their tremendous legacies on the Grammy stage."

Both were previous Grammy winners -- Prince was a seven-time winner, while George earned a pair.
