BIG Music News: Eagles, The Beatles

EAGLES:  Continuing on after Glenn Frey's death not an easy decision

Don Henley really thought the Eagles were done following the death of Glenn Frey in January 2016, and he says the decision to reunite for Classic West and Classic East in July did not come easily.

Don Henley on the Eagles' decision to reunite for Classic West and Classic East in July:

"We discussed it with Glenn's family and everybody came to the conclusion that it would probably be a good idea -- that we would at least try it for two shows. We've only got these two shows booked -- the East and West. So we'll just see. You know. We're gonna do these two shows. That's all we have planned. We don't have anything planned beyond that. And we'll see where it goes from there."

Earlier this week, Don let it slip that Glenn's son Deacon will be one of the two special guests rounding out the lineup. An announcement on the other guest, who is a much bigger name, is imminent.

Classic West is July 15th and 16th at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, and Classic East follows on July 29th and 30th at Citi Field in Queens, New York. Rounding out the bill are The Doobie Brothers, Steely Dan, Fleetwood Mac, Journey and Earth, Wind and Fire.

THE BEATLES:  The so-called White Album is the next to get a deluxe reissue

The next Beatles album that is targeted for a deluxe reissue is their 1968 self-titled album, forever referred to as The White Album.

Giles Martin, the son of the band's late producer, George Martin, who just oversaw the upcoming 50th anniversary edition of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Band, broke the news during a BBC Radio 6 Music interview on Wednesday.

“That is where they started becoming properly indulgent. I mean, you know, there are 70 takes of ‘Sexy Sadie’ for instance. The efficiency went slightly out the window. I mean it's getting the balance right.”

While no other details are available, one could assume that the deluxe reissue of The White Album will be released late next year in conjunction with its 50th anniversary. The original release date was November 22nd, 1968.

The 50th anniversary edition of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band will arrive on May 26th.
