CYNDI LAUPER:  Helping battle youth homelessness

Cyndi Lauper is putting her True Colors Fund to work on yet another task -- helping individual states handle the problem of youth homelessness.

Marking the 10th anniversary of the charity, Cyndi presented the initiative at a get-together in L.A., where she laid out specifics of what states can do on behalf of kids in need. She said "This isn’t to demonize the states but to empower them to address this issue and find real solutions to a real problem.”

In the initial rankings, Massachusetts and Washington state do the best jobs addressing the problem, while Alabama and South Carolina need the most work. Cyndi and her partners at the National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty are also asking the public to contact their governors via e-mail and Twitter to improve their state’s index scores.
