JANET JACKSON: Opens up about performing after her father's death
Janet Jackson showed her true essence at the Essence Festival on Sunday -- her first show since the death of her dad, Joe Jackson.
Miss Jackson took the stage as the night's headliner and fought back tears while telling the crowd, "I didn't know what to do. I didn't know how to move forward, if I should cancel this festival or the entire tour."
Janet went on to say she'd asked one of her brothers for advice, and he told her, "He was so strong, and without his drive, his strength...we wouldn't have this success. We are a black family that came from Indiana and we broke all kinds of records around the globe. [He'd say] 'finish what you started.'" (People)
