Styx denies Dennis DeYoung's claims about 'Mr. Roboto'

STYX:  Band denies Dennis DeYoung's claims about "Mr. Roboto"

Styx denies a claim by former member Dennis DeYoung that promoters made the band add his 1983 song "Mr. Roboto" to their set.

The band's manager said, "We have not had any promoters suggest that Styx play ‘Mr. Roboto’ at all and promoters had nothing to do with the band adding the song to the set. The band did know that some fans did want to hear ‘Roboto’ and over the years they have added many songs to the Styx set that had not been being played."

Styx began playing the song last month, for the first time ever, on a summer tour with Joan Jett and Tesla. Keyboardist Lawrence Gowan, a DeYoung soundalike, now sings it.
